More and more children and young adults experience dissatisfaction and a reduced quality of life. SocialSpace, fights to strengthen the mental health of children and young adults by giving them easy access to the many supporting organisations across Denmark. SocialSpace felt that their current brand and web presence wasn’t accurately representing their offering and didn’t captivate their target audience. SocialSpace wanted a rebrand and redesign to encourage young adults to seek help and creating a comfortable and safe environment for them.

Way too often mental health is portrayed with images of sad people. However, this often fails to accurately portrait people struggling with their mental health and actually discourages them to seek help. The goal of the new identity was to shy away from those images and instead make SocialSpace approachable, inviting and show mental health from a more positive perspective. Therefore, we decided to refocus the brand to better align with the world of young adults, allowing them to feel a sense of ease while discovering SocialSpace and their offering. One of the main objectives to achieve that was to build something that speaks the same language as they do.

The resulting identity is based around a colourful and optimistic palette, natural looking photos of young adults as well as bespoke hand drawn illustrations. The aim was to create a friendly and energetic mood that encourages our audience as well as capture the positive energy and personality of the people working for and with SocialSpace. Seeking help takes a lot of courage. We wanted to highlight that by using bold and large typography with a bit of playfulness to make young adults fighting with their mental health to embrace their unique qualities.

Besides a new brand identity I also designed and build a new website and supported SocialSpace with their online communication by providing various templates for social media, posters & newsletters.
